Blackjack Switch
The card game of Blackjack has been a casino favorite for a long time. The rules and play structure of Blackjack have remained pretty much the same since the days of the Wild West and card saloons - up until October 2000 when a new variation called Blackjack Switch was introduced at the World Gaming show in Las Vegas. For many gamblers, Blackjack Switch was a cause for celebration. The rules are based on a simple move Blackjack enthusiasts who play multiple hands at casino tables have been desiring for years: the ability to switch cards among hands to create stronger combinations. Casinos and players alike have embraced Blackjack Switch, and its popularity seems to be growing.

What is the difference between traditional Blackjack and Blackjack Switch? There are only a few slight changes, but they make Blackjack Switch into a whole new game. As in regular Blackjack, the object of the game is to beat the dealer by getting a score as close to 21 as possible without going over. The point values for the cards are the same: numbered cards are face value, face cards are worth ten points, and aces can be counted as either one or eleven. The major difference in Blackjack Switch is that each player is dealt two hands, and given the option to switch the top two cards before the first move (hit, stand, split, or double down) is made. For example, if you are dealt two hands that are 6-10 and K-5, both weak hands in Blackjack, you can switch the 10 and the 5 to give you a 6-5 (eleven points and a possible 21, or Blackjack) and a K-10 (20 points, a hard hand for the dealer to beat!)
Other differences in Blackjack Switch are dealer rules and the “Super Match” option. In Blackjack Switch, the dealer must always play the “soft 17” rule, which states that if his hand totals 17 and contains an ace, he must hit on the hand. Additionally, if the dealer draws a total of 22, it is considered a “push” (all bet money is returned to the players) rather than a “bust” (automatic losing hand). New to Blackjack Switch is the “Super Match” option. Before the deal, players can wager on a special table circle that they will be dealt a pair among the four initial cards. Super Match bets often provide high odds payouts, sometimes as much as 1000 to 1.
Blackjack Switch is an exciting new version of a time-tested casino favorite. Though casinos adjust the payouts slightly to compensate for the higher winning rates among players, you stand to come out ahead when you study the rules and strategies for Blackjack Switch. If you love to play Blackjack, you will definitely enjoy Blackjack Switch!
